Both trains were empty at the time and no injuries were reported.

The collision resulted in minor damage to the trains.

Schulz and MBTA officials said that as a result, the afternoon commute will be significantly delayed.

Old Colony lines will be most impacted by the collision.

Fairmount Line passengers will be required to use shuttle bus service between South Station and New Market during the afternoon hours.
