Shrewsbury Teen Paints Huge U.S. Flag On Front Lawn

SHREWSBURY (CBS) – A Shrewsbury teen is showing off his 4th of July spirit with a huge American flag painted in the grass of his front yard.

"I thought it would show the liberties that we have, the freedom that we have in the U.S.," 16-year-old Jared Kronlund told WBZ-TV Thursday.

Kronlund, who will soon be a junior at St. John's High School, used six gallons of paint and spent approximately six hours painting the flag that's about 30 feet long.

"The stars were a little tricky," he said, adding that he had his parents' approval.

His family's military background also inspired him.

Kronlund's grandfather went to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
