Sex Offender Accused Of 'Upskirting' In Wareham Held On Bail

WAREHAM (CBS) -- A Level-2 sex offender accused of "upskirting" in a Wareham shopping center was ordered held on $7,500 bail during his arraignment Friday morning.

Gregory Mattos, 29, of Onset, appeared in Wareham District Court after being charged with unlawful sexual surveillance.

Police officers were called to the Wareham Crossing shopping complex on Cranberry Highway around 4 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving a report about a suspicious man photographing a female customer using his cell phone.

He ran out of the store when his activities were noticed by the startled female, police said.

On Thursday around 1 p.m., Mattos was arrested on a warrant.

Investigators say Mattos had been out on bail for a previous charge of failing to register as a sex offender in an unrelated Wareham case.

His next court date is slated for May 9.
