Elizabeth Warren Slams Market Basket As Company Battle Drags On

BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday criticized Market Basket executives saying they needed to realize the impact the company stalemate has had on workers and communities.

"They have shown a real disregard for frankly all that those employees have built up for years and years," Warren told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "Until they have the idea that they are part of the community and trying to build something of value going forward, it's pretty tough to get this one back on track."

Warren's comments come as the month-long company dispute continues with customers boycotting stores and part-time workers having their hours cut to nearly zero.

According to the Boston Globe, however, executive are pushing to have a sale agreement completed by the end of the week.

Despite her criticism, Warren said she will not involve herself in the dispute.

"This has been something that surprised me everyday - how much the current management are willing to destroy value in this wonderful enterprise that has been built up and how much they are willing to disrupt the lives of thousands of people across Massachusetts and across New England," Warren said.
