Sen. Tim Kaine Attends Fundraiser In Boston Amid VP Speculation

BOSTON (CBS) - Virginia Senator Tim Kaine wasn't dropping any hints when he came to Boston for a long planned fundraiser on Friday.

"There's no news," he told reporters as he arrived at Logan Airport. Kaine is on the shortlist of potential running mates for Hillary Clinton.

An announcement was expected Friday which brought a lot of interest in his candidacy at the event.

Erika Fine says it was her first time hearing from the Senator and was impressed with his experience. "He has experience in foreign affairs and knows a lot about veterans issues," said Fine.

She says there was a lot of speculation and a lot of questions about the potential for the pick. "He knew it was the question on everyone's mind."

Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo believes Kaine brings balance to the Clinton ticket. "I think his philosophy is in line with Hillary and I believe most Americans," DeLeo said.

Aaron Segel says having a photo opportunity, particularly on this day with Kaine, was something he never expected. "As a guy who just graduated from college it was exciting," Segel said. "I hope he gets picked."

Kaine has the geography coming from the battleground state of Virginia and at this fundraiser he had the timing. "He's ready for the job day one," said former DNC chairman Steve Grossman.
