Second Man Arrested In Shooting Of Postal Worker In Dorchester
BOSTON (CBS) --- A second man has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery, shooting and kidnapping of a postal worker just before Christmas.
The U.S. Department of Justice says Keyon Taylor was arrested early Monday morning in Boston.
Taylor is expected to appear in federal court sometime Monday.
On Wednesday, police arrested Maurice Williams Miner-Gittens, 23, of Dorchester, and charged him with conspiracy to rob, attempted robbery and kidnapping a federal employee. At the time of Miner-Gittens' arrest, the government offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Taylor.
On December 20, while a letter carrier was delivering holiday packages in Dorchester, Gittens and Taylor allegedly jumped into the postal truck and put a pistol to the victim's head. After a scuffle, the letter carrier was shot in the wrist, beaten and told to take his uniform off.
Taylor allegedly took the keys to the truck and started to drive away. The letter carrier escaped by jumping out the back door of the truck.
Authorities say Taylor abandoned the truck and fled on foot, leaving a trail of boot prints and blood. The letter carrier's uniform, cell phone and keys were found in a nearby trash bin that had blood on it.
