Search Continues For Man Who Fired Shot Near Trooper In Mansfield

MANSFIELD (CBS) – State Police are asking for the public's help as they continue to search for a man who they say fired a shot in the direction of a trooper at the Mansfield-Foxboro town line.

Around 2 a.m. on July 23, a State Police trooper was in the area of Forbes Blvd. and Route 140 when he heard a loud noise as he approached a traffic light.

The trooper also saw white smoke from where the noise came, which was from just feet away from his cruiser.

State and local police searched the area with dogs, a helicopter and an infrared camera, but did not find the shooter.

On Thursday, State Police released photos of several items found in the area.
