Scituate Church Confirmed For Sale

SCITUATE (CBS) - The Archdiocese of Boston confirms that St. Frances X. Cabrini Church in Scituate is on the market.

The current price is reported to be $2.2 million dollars, and Archdiocese spokesman Terrence Donilon says there has been some interest in the property. The Archdiocese says they're calling for offers.

The total property is 28 acres, but only 16.2 acres is eligible for development because the rest of the land is designated as a wetland.

Donilon said he's not sure about the property's future, but  it will most likely be turned into a residential development.

St. Francis X. Cabrini was closed by the archdiocese in 2004, but parishioners weren't ready to give up their church.

Members of the church held prayer vigils and other services at the facility until 2016.

That was even after a judge ordered the parishioners to leave the property in March 2015.
