MERRIMACK, N.H. (CBS) -- A New Hampshire school bus driver who let her 5-year-old son sit in the driver's seat during safety checks is facing charges after the boy put the bus in reverse and hit a building, police say.

No one was hurt in the incident at the London Court Condominium complex in Merrimack at 8:47 a.m. on Monday. But 32-year-old Tiffanie A. Brown, of Merrimack, is charged with child endangerment and reckless conduct, police said.

Merrimack police say the 5-year-old was helping her with morning safety checks, and her 8-year-old son was also on the bus.

"As Brown directed the five year old, now seated in the drivers seat, through the checks of the reverse and brake lights, the child shifted the bus into reverse, subsequently causing it to drive uncontrollably backwards and into a building located on the property," police said in a statement.

The 8-year-old was "hanging onto one of the bus doors" during the incident, police said.

Brown was released on bail and is set to appear in court again on Jan. 27.
