Saugus Woman Reports Sexual Assault At Knifepoint
SAUGUS (CBS) – A woman reported being sexually assaulted at knifepoint while she was out running with her dog, Saugus police said Wednesday.
The woman told police the attack happened on Nason Road at 11:30 Tuesday night. She said she heard fast footsteps coming up behind her, and a man then grabbed her by the hair and pushed her into the tree. The man said he had a knife, told her not to scream, and grabbed her chest and genitals before striking her in the face, police said.
According to the victim's husband, she told the attacker she has two babies at home and to let her go, but the man replied it would take a minute.
The man ran away after the woman's dog started barking and got the neighborhood dogs barking too, according to police.
The victim's husband said his wife often runs late at night with the family's 50 pound dog and she has never had any problems prior to the assault.
She was able to run home and call police.
Police are looking for a tall, thin man who's around 20-years old. The woman said he was wearing cologne, a long-sleeved red shirt, dark pants, possible jeans and clean white sneakers. Officers think he may have had a vehicle nearby.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police.
