Good Samaritan Helps Save Four People From Sinking Boat Off Salisbury Beach

SALISBURY (CBS) – A Good Samaritan helped the Coast Guard rescue four people whose boat was taking on water 25 miles from Salisbury Beach.

A 21-foot boat was beginning to sink when a Good Samaritan on a second vessel responded to the distress call on Saturday afternoon.

All four people on the sinking boat were wearing life jackets. They were safely transferred onto the Good Samaritan's boat.

The Coast Guard then responded and brought all four people to shore with no injuries.

A salvage company was called to right the sinking boat, take the water out of it, and tow it to Rye, N.H.

"It was very fortunate the Good Samaritan responded and was able to be on scene so quickly," said Petty Officer 1st Class Bobby Cook. "A working VHF radio, life jackets for all passengers, and the Good Samaritan all contributed to lives being saved today."
