Salem Man Charged With Killing U.S. Army Veteran

BOSTON (AP) — A man accused of fatally shooting a former Army sniper after an altercation at a Boston nightclub is being brought back to Massachusetts after being located in the Dominican Republic last month.

Peter Castillo, of Salem, is expected to be arraigned on first-degree murder charges Tuesday in the death of Stephen Perez Jr.

Perez was a 22-year-old veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Revere man was shot on April 28, 2012, in a parking garage.

Castillo was added to the U.S. Marshals Service's most wanted list in October. He was arrested Jan. 15 in Santo Domingo and brought to the U.S. two days later. He's been held in New York City since then.

Castillo is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.
