Ryan Bamford Named New AD At UMass

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — The University of Massachusetts has selected a high-ranking athletics administrator at Georgia Tech with New England roots to be its new director of athletics.

Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy on Monday announced the appointment of Ryan Bamford.

Bamford has been at Georgia Tech for four years, the last two as senior associate director of athletics. He previously worked at Yale University for eight years.

Bamford is a New Hampshire native whose father, Steve, was athletic director at Plymouth State University for 13 years.

Subbaswamy says Bamford "brings the right mix of devotion to the student-athlete, a winning tradition in a broad range of sports, and intimate knowledge of FBS football."

UMass is entering its fourth season in the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision.
