Driver Crashes Into Wentworth Police Cruiser While Fleeing Shooting Scene

BOSTON (CBS) – A Wentworth Institute of Technology police officer was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries following a crash with a driver who was allegedly fleeing after a report of shots fired near an MBTA station.

Around 1:30 a.m. shots were fired near the Ruggles T station.

A short time later, a car speeding from the area crashed into a Wentworth Police cruiser. Police say the two incidents were related.

Trevon Bell, 20, of Brighton was arrested following the crash. Bell is expected to be arraigned Friday morning in Roxbury Municipal Court.

Three other people ran away from the scene and remain at large.

Not far from the crash scene, gunshots were reported on McGreevy Street.

Several cars were damaged, but no one was hit.

Boston Police are not sure if that incident is related to the Ruggles incident and ensuing crash.
