Body found on Route 93 south in Medford causes morning rush hour delay

MEDFORD - A body was found on Route 93 south in Medford early Tuesday morning and the investigation led to long delays during rush hour.

Two lanes of the highway were closed after the unidentified man was found dead around 4:30 a.m. near the Mystic Avenue exit and the Somerville line.

At one point, traffic was backed up for ten miles toward Boston. The scene was cleared at 9 a.m. but there were still residual delays.

Massachusetts State Police later said it appeared the man intentionally jumped from the overpass onto I-93 below and was hit by at least one vehicle.
