Roofer Accused Of Stealing From Bedford Homes

BEDFORD (CBS) - Bedford police arrested a roofer hired to clear snow for allegedly clearing out two elderly residents' homes.

They arrested Steven Butler, 26, of Medford. They say he stole jewelry, coins and prescription drugs from two homes off Old Billerica Road.

Police caught Butler after one resident went to an appointment and returned to a ransacked bedroom. Officers questioned the roofers nearby and saw stolen items in one of the cars.

They arrested Butler and charged him with breaking and entering during the daytime to commit a felony, receiving stolen property over $250, and possession of a Class C substance.
