Rockland Student Dies On School Trip To Greece

ROCKLAND (CBS) – A Rockland High School student died Friday during a school trip to Greece.

Senior Jared Quirk collapsed while walking down the street in Athens on the second day of the trip that was scheduled to last until April 24.

Chaperones performed CPR on Quirk, but he was transported to an area hospital and later died.

It is unclear if Quirk had a pre-existing medical condition.

There were about 60 students on the trip. The travel group organizing the trip was working to make arrangements for students to return home as they were struggling with their classmate's death.

The senior class had been planning the trip for about two years.

Three members of this year's Rockland High School senior class died this year, including Patrick Sullivan, who was killed in a New Year's Day crash.
