$50,000 Lottery Winner Gets Pulled Over For Speeding On Way To Claim Prize

BOSTON (CBS) - Scott Lowe of Rockland had great luck with tickets Thursday.

One of those tickets he was very lucky to get and another he was almost as lucky not to receive.

Lowe had the good fortune to not get a ticket when he was pulled over for speeding by Hingham Police Thursday afternoon.

He got away with a verbal warning.

But his luck really kicked in on the ticket he did get – a $50,000 winning scratch ticket.

Lowe explained to the officer in Hingham that he was in a hurry when he was stopped because he was on his way to the Lottery's Braintree headquarters to claim his winnings.

Lottery Executive Director Beth Bresnahan confirmed that Lowe was indeed a lucky winner.

She said he purchased the ticket at Home Spirits on Columbia Road in Hanover.
