Security Guard Assaulted In Rochester, NH Hospital Parking Lot Dies

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A security guard who was assaulted last week in a parking lot of a New Hampshire hospital has died of his injuries, police said.

Richard Semo, 64, of Farmington died Friday night after sustaining injuries from an attack on Dec. 13, around 3:20 a.m., in a lot of the Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham confirmed on Sunday to Foster's Daily Democrat.

"From what we know at this time, Mr. Semo was in the parking lot when a man allegedly went after him and punched him in the face," Pinkham said. "Mr. Semo fell and hit his head on the ground."

Semo suffered serious trauma and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Tyler Thurston, 29, of New Durham, was arrested and charged with felony second degree assault. Thurston was being held on bail at Strafford County Jail. It was unclear if he is being represented by an attorney.

"We do not know what transpired for the assault to take place," Pinkham said.

An autopsy was expected to take place Sunday afternoon, Pinkham said. Authorities plan to meet Monday to discuss upgrading the charges that Thurston faces, Strafford County Attorney Tom Velardi said.

Rochester police are asking anyone in the area who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
