RIPTA Bus Crashes Into Building In Warwick

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — Officials say the driver of a bus that crashed into a building may have suffered a medical emergency that also caused him to strike a telephone pole, toppling it.

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority spokeswoman Barbara Polichetti said the driver of the Route 20 bus and the three passengers on board were taken to a hospital. Their injuries were unknown.

The crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. Monday in Warwick.

Polichetti said the bus was traveling north on Post Road when it struck a telephone pole in the right lane. The bus then veered across three lanes before crashing into Rhode Island Paintball & Airsoft.
