Ride For Fallen Soldiers To Be Held On Cape Cod

BOURNE, Mass. (AP) — A motorcycle ride to honor veterans from Cape Cod who have died in the service of their country is scheduled for this weekend.

The sixth annual Big Nick's Memorial Motorcycle Ride for the Fallen is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Barnstable county jail in Bourne. The riders will go about 37 miles along the Cape Cod Canal and through Bourne, Sandwich, Barnstable and Yarmouth, ending up at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

The ride is named on honor of U.S. Marine Cpl. Nicholas Xiarhos (ex-AHR'-ose) , a Yarmouth native killed in Afghanistan in 2009.

Proceeds raised by the ride will benefit a scholarship fund named for Xiarhos and an organization raising money to build a memorial for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
