Missing Massachusetts Biker Richard Moreau Found Dead
KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (AP) — A man missing on a bicycle ride from Massachusetts to Florida has been found dead in North Carolina.
Knightdale spokesman Brian Bowman told local media that police found 66-year-old Richard Moreau dead Wednesday afternoon in a tent in Nash County.
Bowman said it appeared Moreau died of natural causes.
Moreau was fulfilling a dream of riding from his home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts to Florida.
Bowman said Moreau had stopped in Knightdale to replace his phone Sept. 17. Bowman said Moreau contacted his family Sept. 18 but had not been heard from since.
Knightdale police worked with the phone company to determine the last location of Moreau's new phone. They spent much of Wednesday searching the rural area and found the body and belongings not far from a road.
