Revolution To Open MLS Season vs. Seattle Sounders

BOSTON (CBS) -- Coming off their trip to the MLS Cup, the New England Revolution will help kick off the 2015 Major League Soccer season.

The Revs will begin their 2015 campaign with two road games, starting with a visit the Seattle Sounders -- the league's best team during the 2014 regular season. Those two teams will kick off the 20th MLS season on Sunday, March 8.

The opener against Seattle is the first of three Revolution match-ups that were announced on Friday.

In addition to opening the season in Seattle, the 2014 Eastern Conference champs will also serve as the opponent for the inaugural home game for New York City FC, one of two expansion clubs that will begin play in 2015. That game will be played at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, March 15.

The Revs will open at Gillette Stadium six days later on Saturday, March 21, when they host the Montreal Impact. The start time for this game is yet to be determined.

The complete 34-game regular-season schedule for the 2015 MLS campaign will be announced at a later date.
