Residents Displaced By East Boston Apartment Fire

BOSTON (CBS) – Firefighters knocked down an apartment fire Saturday afternoon that displaced over 20 people in East Boston.

The Boston Fire Department was called to 192 Leyden Street in East Boston at about 1:25 p.m. for reports of a fire.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing and flames were shooting from the first to the second floor.

At about 2:15 p.m. Boston firefighters said the fire was knocked down, though the Red Cross was responding to help with 17 adults and five children who were displaced from the building's four apartments.

No details are currently available on the cause of the fire. No injuries have been reported.
