Reports: Kevin Williams Visits Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots remain busy in their roster building this spring, reportedly hosting veteran defensive tackle Kevin Williams on a visit on Thursday.

According to CSNNE's Tom Curran, Williams visited the Patriots amid his own internal debates about retiring.

Williams is 33 years old and has played 11 seasons in the NFL. Recently, the defensive lineman was told by a USA Today reporter that he'd make a great fit with the Patriots, to which Williams replied, "Tell them to look me up." Apparently, the Patriots did.

Williams recorded 3.5 sacks, an interception and 29 tackles last season.

It's a far cry from the double-digit sack totals he was posting in the early years of his career, but a veteran presence might be very welcome inside for New England. Vince Wilfork should be healthy and ready to go, but last year's reliance on Joe Vellano and Chris Jones proved that the defensive line was ill-equipped to handle the injuries to Wilfork and Tommy Kelly.
