Report: Tom Brady Will Start, Jimmy Garoppolo Won't Play Vs. Giants

BOSTON (CBS) -- Jimmy Garoppolo is unquestionably the Patriots' starting quarterback.

The third-year player will get the starter's treatment on Thursday night, as he will not be playing at all in the preseason finale at the New York Giants, according to CSNNE's Tom E. Curran.

Brissett is likely to get the lion's share of work at the quarterback position, though it is notable that Brady is playing at all. Brady hasn't played in the fourth preseason game since 2011.

Garoppolo's performance in the first three preseason games has been up-and-down, but the night of rest in the Meadowlands shows that the team has moved on to preparing Garoppolo for Week 1 in Arizona next Sunday night.
