Report: Rusney Castillo Heading To Disabled List

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rusney Castillo has hit a bump in the road on his path back to the Major Leagues.

The Red Sox outfielder will reportedly land on the disabled list with a bad shoulder, according to The Boston Globe's Alex Speier. Castillo had his right shoulder evaluated in Boston on Monday after he jammed it while attempting to make a diving catch for the Pawtucket Red Sox over the weekend.

Manager John Farrell updated Castillo's condition on Tuesday, saying that Castillo suffered no structural damage and that his absence won't be long-term.

With a crowded outfield in Boston, Castillo started the season in Triple-A in order to get consistent playing time. He started his season by going 5-for-12 in his first three games before suffering the injury on Sunday.

Boston signed the Cuban defector to a seven-year, $72.5 million deal last August. In 10 games for Boston last September, Castillo went 12-for-36 (.300) at the plate with a double and two home runs.
