Report: Patriots Releasing Anthony Johnson

BOSTON (CBS) -- One of the stars of the Patriots preseason will no longer be with the team.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are releasing defensive lineman Anthony Johnson.

Johnson, 23, has just four total tackles through three games -- three solo tackles and one assist. He made his presence known in the team's second preseason game, vs. the Bears, when he recorded a half sack and a pass defense, a performance that helped him make the final roster for the regular season.

At LSU, Johnson recorded 77 total tackles, seven sacks and interception over three seasons, before going undrafted and signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2014.

The Patriots next play Sunday afternoon at home against the Buffalo Bills.
