By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots have released former first-round pick Dominique Easley, according to CSNNE's Tom E. Curran.

The Patriots selected the defensive tackle 29th overall in 2014 amid serious injury red flags. Easley has started in just three games in two NFL seasons, each of which have ended on Injured Reserve.

UPDATE: The Patriots made their release of Easley official in a press release.
