Patriots' Nick Caserio Interviews For Miami Dolphins' GM Job
BOSTON (CBS) -- In just a matter of days this week, the Patriots' coaching staff has undergone major changes. Might the front office be in for a shake-up as well?
Nick Caserio, the Patriots' director of player personnel, interviewed for the vacant Miami Dolphins general manager job. The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. and the team later made an announcement via Twitter.
Caserio, 38, has served in his current capacity since 2008, and he first joined the organization in 2001. He first served as a personnel assistant, and he served multiple roles in both the coaching and scouting staffs for the Patriots. He stepped into an important role in the building of the roster after Scott Pioli left New England for Kansas City after the 2008 season.
The Dolphins fired GM Jeff Ireland on Jan. 7, after he served in that role for six seasons. Caserio was the eighth candidate to interview for the job, joining the list of Brian Gaine, Ray Farmer, Dennis Hickey, Omar Khan, Jason Licht, Lake Dawson and Brian Xanders.
Earlier this week, the Patriots announced that longtime linebackers coach Pepper Johnson was leaving the team and that Dante Scarnecchia would be retiring after 30 seasons working for the Patriots.
