Report: NHL Chooses Las Vegas For Expansion

BOSTON (CBS) -- The NHL is (very likely) headed to Sin City.

Though it's been expected for some time, the Associated Press reported Tuesday that the NHL has chosen Las Vegas as its expansion city.

The AP cited two sources close to the situation, one of whom said the NHL going to Vegas was a "done deal."

The final step in the process is for the organizers of the Las Vegas bid to raise $500 million.

If the deal gets completed, it will bring Las Vegas its first major professional sports team.

The city already has an arena -- T-Mobile Arena -- that opened in April and can host games.
