Report: 'Lot Of Buzz' At NFL Combine That Greg Schiano Could Join Patriots Coaching Staff

Everyone knows Bill Belichick's affinity for Rutgers players, and apparently he feels just as strongly about their coaches (well, a former coach anyway).

A void in the coaching staff was made this offseason after longtime assistant head coach Dante Scarnecchia retired and linebackers coach Pepper Johnson took a job in Buffalo, and perhaps that void could be filled with former Bucs head coach Greg Schiano.

Schiano and Belichick are good friends and Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that there's "a lot of buzz" this week in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine that the two could join forces in New England.

Now whether or not this "buzz" is from an informed source or just wild speculation remains to be seen, but after failing to land a head coaching job upon his termination from Tampa, both in college and in the pros, one thing is clear: Schiano is looking for work.

Schiano, 47, served as the Tampa Bay head coach for two seasons and led them to an 11-21 record in his tenure there, good for last in the NFC South for those two years.
