Report: Koji Uehara May Be Out For Rest Of Season

BOSTON (CBS) -- It doesn't sound optimistic that Koji Uehara will be back in the Boston bullpen this season.

According to The Boston Globe, the Red Sox are preparing themselves for life without Koji for the rest of the season. Uehara was placed on the disabled list back on July 20 after suffering a strained pectoral muscle the day before in a non-save situation. At the time of the injury, Uehara was serving as Boston's closer in place of the injured Craig Kimbrel.

While Uehara, who in 39 games this season was 2-3 with a 4.50 ERA and six saves, may not return, there is hope that Kimbrel will rejoin the Boston pen during the team's current 11-game road trip.
