Report: Dion Lewis Expected To Be Ready For 2016 Patriots Training Camp

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- After suffering a season-ending ACL injury in Week 9, Patriots running back Dion Lewis is expected to be ready for training camp before the 2016 season, a source told the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.

Lewis averaged 7.3 yards per touch before the injury, including 36 receptions for 388 yards and four total touchdowns in 9 games. He had emerged as a dynamic third-down back and legitimate weapon in the passing game for Tom Brady, and even ran the ball well on the ground with 4.8 yards per carry. The Patriots signed Lewis to a two-year, $3 million extension prior to the injury, and his return will be welcomed to a running back corps that got decimated by injuries in 2015.

Lewis' ACL tear was yet another injury in a career plagued by them so far. A broken fibula in 2013 kept him out of football for nearly two years, so Patriots Nation will have to hope he reverses that trend in the next two seasons.

Hopefully we get more of this for an entire season next year:
