Report: Dion Lewis Active For Patriots Thursday Night Vs. Dolphins

BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots running back Dion Lewis will play Thursday night vs. the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Lewis had been dealing with an abdominal injury and sat out Sunday's win over the New York Jets to get healthy, according to Rapoport. Bill Belichick previously hinted that Lewis would be a game-time decision.

It's now clear that the Patriots felt that they could rest Lewis against the Jets, with Tom Brady making 54 pass attempts and the running game being an afterthought. But Lewis has been a legitimate weapon in the Patriots' passing attack, so his return to the lineup is a welcome addition.

It will be exciting for Patriots Nation to see how Brady operates with a full complement of weapons at his disposal. Defenses will have their hands full covering Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Brandon LaFell in addition to Lewis at the same time.

Lewis has rushed 40 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns, and 26 catches for another 256 yards and one score in just 5 games this season.
