Report: Celtics Vitor Faverani Arrested For Drunk Driving

BOSTON (CBS) - Celtics center Vitor Faverani is in the news, but for all the wrong reasons.

The 26-year-old Brazilian was arrested in Spain Sunday morning after running a red light and crashing into a bus. Nobody was seriously injured, but Faverani was reportedly three times above the legal blood alcohol limit at the time of the accident.

Faverani underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery in March to repair a torn lateral meniscus.

The 6-11 center appeared in 37 games for the Celtics in his rookie season, averaging 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game. He scored a season-high 13 points against Toronto on opening night, and had an 18-rebound game against Milwaukee on November 1.

Faverani also spent some time with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League in 2013-14. Faverani appeared in four games for Maine, where he averaged 12.8 points and 9.0 rebounds over 25.0 minutes per game.
