Boston-Bound Flight Turns Around For Passenger Who Wouldn't Stop Smoking

DENVER (CBS) -- A United Airlines flight headed to Boston was forced to turn around because a passenger refused to stop smoking, officials said.

Flight 677 from Denver returned to the airport about 30 minutes after take off Friday night because a passenger in the economy section was smoking in the bathroom, a United Airlines spokesman said.

A police spokeswoman said that that they met the flight back at the gate in response to the "disturbance," and the unruly passenger was hospitalized for evaluation.

No arrests were made and the passenger's name has not been released.

Passengers were re-booked for flights on Saturday.
