Andrew Miller Traded To Orioles

BOSTON (CBS) -- In what's been a very busy day in the Boston front office, the Red Sox have traded away reliever Andrew Miller.

Miller will be going to the Baltimore Orioles.

The Red Sox will receive left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez in return.

The 6-foot-7 Miller has pitched 42 1/3 innings for the Sox this year, compiling a 2.34 ERA and 0.898 WHIP, both of which are career-bests for the 29-year-old. He will be a free agent after this season.

Rodriguez, 21, owns a 4.79 ERA this season for Double-A Bowie. He was ranked the No. 3 prospect in the Baltimore system and the No. 65 prospect overall by Baseball America heading into this season.

Earlier on Thursday, the Red Sox traded the top two pitchers in the starting rotation, sending Jon Lester to Oakland and John Lackey to St. Louis.
