Reilly Smith Wins Bruins' 7th Player Award

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Bruins newcomer Reilly Smith has been named the winner of NESN's Seventh Player Award.

The award, chosen by fans, is presented each year to the Bruin who exceeded expectations.

In his first season with the Bruins, Smith has 19 goals and 30 assists, marking NHL career-highs in all categories.

He also has three game-winning goals this season and two deciding shootout goals.

The Bruins acquired the 23-year-old winger from the Dallas Stars as part of the Tyler Seguin trade.

The 6'0', 185-pound native of Toronto, Ontario was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the third round (69th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition to the Seventh Player Award trophy, Smith will receive $5,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.

Recent past recipients include: Dougie Hamilton (2013), Tyler Seguin (2012), Brad Marchand (2011), Tuukka Rask (2010), David Krejci (2009) and Milan Lucic (2008).
