Red Sox Trade Garin Cecchini To Brewers For Cash

BOSTON (CBS) -- Once regarded as one of Boston's promising prospects, Garin Cecchini was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations on Thursday.

Cecchini, who was ranked among the Top 100 prospect in baseball during the early parts of his career, was designated for assignment by the back on December 4. The 24-year-old was a fourth-round pick by Boston in 2010, but appeared in just 13 big league games for the Red Sox between 2014-15.

Cecchini appeared in just two games for the Red Sox in 2015, playing 117 games for the Pawtucket Red Sox. He split time between third, first base and left field in 2015, and at the plate he hit just .213 with 14 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBIs.

Cecchini was designated for assignment last week to make room for newly signed ace David Price on the 40-man roster.
