Red Sox Select OF Andrew Benintendi With No. 7 Pick In MLB Draft

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox selected outfielder Andrew Benintendi out of the University of Arkansas with their first-round pick in the MLB draft Monday night.

The Red Sox chose Benintendi with the seventh overall pick.

The 20-year-old hit .380 with 13 doubles, two triples 19 home runs, 55 RBI and 61 runs scored in 63 games for the Razorbacks as a sophomore this season.

He is 5'10", 180 pounds and bats left-handed.

He is currently tied for the NCAA Division I lead in home runs and ranks third with a .715 slugging percentage.
