Red Sox Recall Reliever Heath Hembry

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox have made a minor roster move they hope will help their struggling bullpen.

After optioning right-hander Noe Ramirez to Triple-A following Monday's loss, the Red Sox recalled righty reliever Heath Hembree on Tuesday. He will be available when Boston opens a three-game set against the Rays at Fenway Park on Tuesday.

Hembree was solid in four appearances for the PawSox this season, allowing just two hits and issuing one walk while striking out nine in five innings of work.

Acquired in 2014 from the Giants for starter Jake Peavey, Hembree is 2-0 with a 3.82 ERA in 28 career appearances for Boston. He made 22 appearances in 2015, giving up 25 hits and 10 runs while striking out 15 in 25.1 innings of work. He owns a 3.14 ERA for his three-year career.

Ramirez made his first career Opening Day roster this season, but failed to earn John Farrell's trust in allowing seven hits and walking six in 7.1 innings. He struck out eight while recording a 4.91 ERA in his 12 appearances with Boston.

The Red Sox' bullpen own a 4.12 ERA for the season, ranking 11th in the American League.
