Red Sox Place Hanley Ramirez On Disabled List

BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox have placed former outfielder and soon to be first baseman Hanley Ramirez on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Ramirez, who struggled mightily in his move to left field, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder.

The move is retroactive to August 27 and Ramirez is expected back before the season is over.

When Ramirez does return, however, it is expected that he will do so as a first baseman.

Ramirez, in the first year of a 4-year-deal with the Red Sox, is hitting .249 this season with 19 home runs and 53 RBI.
