Red Sox Place Felix Doubront On DL With Shoulder Strain

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox placed starter Felix Doubront on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, just a few hours after the pitcher left Tuesday night's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays with numbness in his shoulder.

Doubront, who departed Tuesday night with a left shoulder strain after just five innings, underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning.

Things sounded very serious following Tuesday night's loss.

"I couldn't feel my shoulder," Doubront told reporters after the outing. "It was weird. I felt weird."

Doubront was 2-4 with a 5.12 ERA over nine starts this season. Newly re-signed shortstop Stephen Drew takes Doubront's spot on the 25-man roster.
