Red Sox Make Rookies Play Dress-Up On Way Back From Road Trip

BOSTON (CBS) -- While it hasn't been too much fun to watch the Boston Red Sox this season, the team's rookies gave people plenty of reason to laugh on Sunday afternoon.

With the team heading home from their final road trip of the season, the veterans made the rookies don various costumes for the flight back to Boston.

Rookie pitcher Anthony Ranaudo tweeted out a few pictures of himself dressed as Duff Man from "The Simpsons," with a team photo showing off all the interesting costumes the rookies were forced to wear:

A total of 14 rookies took part in the annual tradition following Boston's 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The group included all four of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with Christian Vazquez, Tommy Layne, Steven Wright and Heath Hembree going green for the trip home.

Rusney Castillo, who just joined the major league club on Tuesday, was dressed as Mugatu, the popular Will Ferrell character from the movie "Zoolander."

Rookie Jemile Weeks shared a group photo and video from the airport:

The Red Sox now return to Boston for the final six games of the season.
