Hanley Ramirez Named Co-AL Player Of The Week

BOSTON (CBS) -- Hanley Ramirez had a monster week at the plate, earning the Red Sox' slugger Co-American League Player of the Week honors.

Ramirez shares the award with Oakland's Khris Davis after both clubbed five homers last week.

It's Hanley's fourth Player of the Week award over his career, but first in the American League. Over the last seven days, Ramirez hit .462 (12-for-26) with a 1.077 slugging percentage and 1.594 OPS. He drove in 12 runs to give him 106 RBIs on the season, matching his career-high set back in 2009 with the Florida Marlins.

Ramirez powered the Red Sox to a four-game sweep over the New York Yankees, blasting a walk-off homer on Thursday night and two more (including the game-winner) on Sunday night, giving Boston a three-game cushion over the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.
