Dove Chocolates Recalled Over Allergy Concerns

BOSTON (CBS) -- Mars Chocolate North America has issued an allergy alert and voluntary recall for bags of Dove chocolates due to undeclared egg, wheat, and peanut ingredients being present in some of the bags.

About 6,700 cases of 24 oz bags of Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes may contain Snickers, Milky Way, or Twix pieces, according to the FDA, which said that no adverse allergic reactions have been reported yet.

Only one retailer carried the chocolates, which were sold between September 19 and December 1. The bags were sold in 35 states, including Massachusetts. A customer notified Mars after they found pieces of Snickers in their Dove bag.

The code dates and UPC code can be found on the back of the packaging on the lower right side. The bags can be identified with the Item number 10139802 and UPC number 400050521.

If anyone purchased the bags and has allergy concerns, they can return them to the store they purchased them from for a full refund. Anyone with questions or concerns is urged to call 1-800-551-0907.
