Rally Supporting Iran Nuclear Deal Planned In Boston
BOSTON (AP) — Peace activists are planning to gather on Boston Common to voice their support for a deal struck between the U.S. and other world powers and Iran.
The accord is intended to curb Iran's nuclear program in exchange for billions of dollars in relief from international sanctions.
The activists say they want to help educate the public about what is at stake.
Cole Harrison, executive director of Massachusetts Peace Action, said activists are concerned because some members of Massachusetts all-Democratic congressional delegation have yet to "unambiguously" declare their support for the accord.
Congress has 60 days to review the agreement. Lawmakers could hold a vote of disapproval and take additional action.
Activists were gathering at about 1 p.m. Saturday near the MBTA Park Street station.
