Hundreds Rally Across Boston In Solidarity Against Gun Violence

BOSTON (CBS) -- Hundreds of Boston residents rallied on Saturday in unity and with one common purpose.

"We are standing solidarity from those from Baton Rouge and Dallas. Black lives do matter but that doesn't mean blue lives don't," organizer, James W. Hills said.

On Saturday, several different demonstrations, community meetings and rallies took place throughout the city in response to the deadly police involved shootings.

"I want to see the system changed. Every day people are killed including police officers so we want it see change across the board," Tahia Bell-Sikes-of Mass Action Against Police Brutality said.

A rally in Dudley Square which began outside was followed by a meeting inside the Bolling Municipal Building were residents voiced their opinion and tried to find solutions to the police brutality.

"In Boston we've had very peaceful protest against violence. Hopefully we can control what's happening  and they stay peaceful here in our city," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said.

Residents say they want to see more police with body cameras and stand for justice not violence.

"Here in Boston we have a unique experience with community policing but there is room for improvement. They were willing to have conversation," James Hills said.
