Pregnant Women Who Suffer Morning Sickness Have Lower Risk Of Miscarriage

BOSTON (CBS) - Some reassuring news about morning sickness.

If you've ever had it, you know it's the pits, but a new study suggests all that nausea may provide a health benefit to your baby.

New research out of the National Institutes of Health finds pregnant women who suffer morning sickness may be 50 to 75% less likely to have a miscarriage.

It's still not clear why morning sickness may be beneficial. One theory is that women who are feeling nauseated all the time are less likely to eat foods that may contain toxins or germs that could harm a developing fetus.

And if you don't develop morning sickness, it doesn't mean that something is wrong with your pregnancy.
